Does Auto Tracking Use Data?
The answer to this question may seem pretty obvious, so what I’m about to say may surprise you. There is a big difference between using GPS and Data.
When auto tracking is enabled, you are not using any data. That’s because Auto Tracking runs completely off the GPS signal on your phone, not data. GPS finds your location by pinging off cell tower after cell tower. Kind of like Spiderman swinging from building to building to get around. Once again, no data is being used.
Fact is, the only time Taxbot may use data is when it’s syncing with our servers. When you first open the app or when you submit a trip/ expense. That’s only if you are out of Wi-Fi range.
Put this to the test! Turn off your data and go for a drive. I've done this many times. The app will continue to track; however, your addresses will not populate until you are within WiFi range.
We have worked very hard to make sure that Taxbot makes the most of your phone’s resources, battery and data.
